In July 2018, Cheltenham Silver Band went on its first ever tour. The seeds of this were sown when a player suggested we visit Edinburgh to play with his former band. Unfortunately, they had too many commitments to be able to host us, however the idea then snowballed, culminating in us securing funding from the Sir Charles Irving Charitable Trust and spending four nights in Belgium.
Whilst we were there, we played three open air concerts to some very appreciative audiences. We also were priviledged to play a piece at the Tyne Cot War Cemetary. There was also time for some relaxation, with a trip to a water park, and time to explore beautiful towns such as Bruges and Ypres.
